Along with vintage knitting patterns, I've been stashing retro buckles and buttons for the past several years in anticipation of doing something creative and knitting/fibre arts related at Struan Farm.
Perhaps I've just been ahead of the sustainability trend in wanting to reuse and recycle?
At the risk of sounding like my father-in-law stockpiling for a rainy day, I do think it's nice to use older, often better quality design elements in new handmade projects. Sometimes they are the inspiration for the project rather than vice versa.
Some buckles destined for the Knitting Studio below. I especially like the butterscotch bakelite ones, may have to hide those.
