This summer there are quite a number of wild turkeys roaming Struan Farm and surrounds, so much so that John is wondering that they're becoming pests-- he's never seen them in these numbers. We've had to lecture our little friend Clifford about not chasing them, since he has been known to catch one from time to time as a snack to tide him over until dinner. It is not fun to watch turkeys trying to fly off in a panic, they don't achieve lift off all that easily. Our approach currently is to order him to stay away, no nosing around anywhere near them.
John and I were sitting on the deck having lunch during our holiday and this mob wandered through the back of the garden. Clifford sat and watched them, so our message seems to have gotten through that these birds in particular, and birds of any type, are completely off limits.
Clifford looks so angelic and innocent, doesn't he?
It's just that I know he would be inclined to supplement his Eukanuba when I've turned my back... But don't worry, the turkeys should be safe: like most women, I've got eyes in the back of my head!
