John's mum Rosemary was known for her sense of humor. She kept three duck decoys floating on the swimming pool at Struan Farm, prompting visitors to do a double take.
After we landscaped down at the pond, we asked her if they could relocate, a move she endorsed. Particularly if they would attract other ducks to the pond. So the decoys, which I named "Huey, Dewey and Louie" after Donald Duck's nephews, made the move.
The only problem was that shortly thereafter we could only see Huey and Dewey floating around--it seemed Louie had flown off or had been ducknapped.
Not so! I found him hiding with Dewey on the side of the pond this past weekend:
Or perhaps like most Kiwis he's travelled the world on his OE and decided it's time to come home.
