Okay, we've cheated a wee bit on the John's Hut project. After an attempt on my part to strip and re-paint the recycled hooks from Piopio Primary School for our tool rack, I decided there might be an easier, more elegant solution to have them back to looking their best. I took them to Eden Electroplaters in Auckland, where they were cleaned and shined back to the base metal.
They can now be installed on the rack where they'll age to a lovely dull patina:
