Anna came by Struan Farm this past weekend to show an American visitor around and deliver a supply of quince from her orchard for me to play with. I"ll post on my experiments as they occur.
On my drive back on Sunday I stopped first at Piopio's monthly market, which is held on the third Sunday of every month (fresh figs and new season honey, yum). Next I stopped at Piopio Orchard, to pick up what are probably my final stash of this season's blueberries (major sob). Enroute I also stopped at Waitomo Orchard, where they were featuring new season organic Royal Gala apples and pears (both relations of the quince):
In case anyone has forgotten, it's that time of the year when Mother Nature really delivers.
