A friend of ours came to visit Struan Farm for the first time from Auckland this past weekend.
The roses have started to bloom, so I was able to come up with some flower arrangements for the guest room and dining table that are starting to look like summer:
For dinner we had rack of lamb, fresh local asparagus, beets just picked from the garden, and rocket/arugula salad.
And of course at this time of the year no visit to Piopio is complete without berries from Piopio Berry Orchard. I baked an angel food cake to use for strawberry shortcake (low fat!), served with berry coulis, fresh berries and softly whipped cream (not low fat!):
Heaven on a plate, really.
