Virtually all of the apple trees we've planted at Struan Farm are fruiting this year, many for the first time. In the Old Orchard Paddock the Bramley, Cox's Orange Pippin, Liberty and Akane all have fruit. Granny Smith, newest of the lot, doesn't just yet, but then she needs another year or two under her belt in Piopio (she was a replacement for one that got attacked by a few naughty sheep).
Up at the orchard at the new(ish) house Peasgood Nonsuch and Monty's Surprise are laden, while the new dwarf Initial has two wee apples.
Every time I turn around both John and Clifford are munching on apples, while I have visions of apple crumbles and applesauce for the freezer. There even seem to be enough for the birds, so we're keeping everybody happy here at Struan Farm!
