I like the idea of saving and planting flowers, trees and shrubs that have a Robertson family connection here at Struan Farm, and this would be one of those. Call them whatever you may: heritage, heirloom, or just old, hard-to-find varieties.
Sister-in-law Anna recently sold her house in Te Kuiti to move elsewhere. Before that happened we wandered her garden to decide what, if anything, I should take a cutting from for our new gardens here. And this was our choice. Anna called it "Marg's Mother's Fuchsia." In fact, "Marg's mother" was her (and John's) Aunt Alice. So I've christened it "Aunt Alice's Fuchsia." The cuttings have taken off, and at least one will be planted out in one of our new garden beds this winter.
I was glad to see it flowering, so hope it's happy in Piopio.
