Yes, yet another fungi here at Struan Farm! This time it's the "Common-basket stinkhorn," Ileodictyon cibarium. I noticed three of these growing under the redwoods at our entrance to the new(ish) house. We've had so much rain, and it's been unseasonally warm, so the fungi just seem to keep coming around the place.
These are apparently quite common, and are found at the forest margin in deep litter or in areas where mulch is used. Striking, aren't they? The guide seems to indicate they can be a bit smelly, to attract flies that aid spore dispersal, but I haven't gotten too close to them to confirm that either way!
