A few years ago we decided to test growing feijoas here at Struan Farm, and planted two at the back gate of the Homestead. I'm happy to report they're thriving! The one with the larger fruit is a variety called "Kaiteri," while the other is currently called "Karen Forgot to Save the Tag." Either way, both are about ready to provide us with a reasonable harvest of fruit.
John, who has experience with feijoas, advises that the fruit is ripe when it falls off the tree. You don't actually pick it. So I'll need to keep an eye out over the next week or so.
