We finally had a long enough period of settled weather here at Struan Farm for John to paint the concrete base of our Grounded Art sculpture. He used Porter's Paints Liquid Iron and Instant Rust. It's a two step process--two coats of the iron paint are put on and then the "instant rust" liquid, which prompts a chemical reaction turning the iron to rust.
Here's step one:
And here's step two. It will continue to rust a bit further, but we're quite happy with how this has turned out!
Next will come a walkway to the sculpture from the garden, with fencing and hedging (we think). This is a John project, so while I'm consulted he will do the planning and associated work.
What a beautiful art work. The rusted effect lòoks great! Look forward to seeing it next time we stay!
