It's time for the heirloom poppies to come out of the gardens here at Struan Farm. They have done their dash, gone to seed, and are swooning over other plants making a mess of things. Over the years I've learned that gardening is about managing transitions, and of course weeding. There are times when you really just need to crack in, and this would be one of those times.
I cut off the seed heads, tossing some back into the beds to generate flowers for next year and saving others in two big buckets. Four trailer loads done. Now I can see the weeds, so a different type of cracking in continues!
