It's winter here at Struan Farm. This tends to mean foggy, damp, chilly mornings, at least in June and July. What it means for me is that it's time to start shelling the trays and trays (and trays) of walnuts we've had drying out in the garage, at least on those foggy mornings or rainy days.
The shelled nuts are then put into ziplock bags and frozen for later use, including in our world famous homemade Struan Farm muesli, also in our breakfast porridge/oatmeal. Please note I use the phrase "world famous" somewhat loosely. Farmstay guests do seem to enjoy it and ask for the recipe on a regular basis, so perhaps that's gone to my head!
