Yesterday I was excited to see that the rhododendron "Cornubia" we planted at the front entrance to our house here at Struan Farm, beside the stone gate under the redwoods, has started to flower this year for the first time. It's the same type of rhodo that's inside the front entrance to the Homestead. That one was planted by John's parents, and has been there for years (and years and years). It's huge and flowers a brilliant red.
I thought it would be nice to have a parallel universe on the rhodo front up at the new(ish) house entrance. But it's taken quite a few years for this first flower. It's quite dry under the redwoods, and the soil isn't that great. But I've been giving it special food and sending loving thoughts.
I'm sure it was those loving thoughts that did the trick! Rhodos pretend they're not sensitive, but they are.
