The climbing rose over the pergola down in the Homestead gardens here at Struan Farm has started to flower, hooray. Her official name is Souvenir de Madame Leonie Viennot, although she is also known as the "dunny rose" here in New Zealand, having been planted by settlers around long drop toilets. Both for camouflage and scent!
In the extended Robertson family she is also known as "Roma's Rose." Family friend Roma Ronaldson grew this rose for years and years. Our rose would be a progeny of hers most certainly. She grows easily from cuttings and I would recommend her to you.
